Our blood testing productsIn 1986, Chiron scientists first identified the hepatitis C virus leading to the development of the first test to screen blood for HCV. Since then, Novartis Diagnostics is proud to build upon the Chiron legacy in protecting the world’s blood supply through our Chiron line of blood testing products. Our Chiron PROCLEIX® Assays and Systems incorporate state-of-the-art nucleic acid testing (NAT) technology developed by Gen-Probe Incorporated to detect viral RNA and DNA in donated blood, plasma, organs and tissue. By identifying infectious agents during the very early stages of infection, our blood testing products help blood centers worldwide prevent transfusion-related infections.
